I finished your game. First of all, I wouldn't say it looks good. It's not really advanced either. It's a simple, linear adventure point&click game. Those could be good, but this one has some mistakes. I must say I needed a walkthrough to beat your game. From your voice I can tell that you're quite young, so I'd like to give you a few tips, because I think you have potential, but you should learn a bit:

First of all, work on the graphics. These don't have to be excellent, some 8bit themed titles are great to play, but you have to find a style that will look good, and be readable. As a random player I have to be able to easily tell what I see on the screen. And I wasn't sure when I played your game. This also means, you should work on locations. Without the walkthrough, I seriously wouldn't be able to tell if I can look under the bed, or I should click the drainpipe. Sure as hell I wouldn't think of clicking part of the desk, to look behind it. Your scenes have to be more intuitive for player. Try sharing your game with your friends or relatives to test it before publishing. This should give you a hint on what parts of your game are too unreadable.

Lastly, work on your code. Somehow I believe that you might have just taken bunch of scripts from the web, instead of taking a minute to actually get to know what they are. If you aspire to write games, I recommend that you learn C# for reals. Also, there's a bug in your game. At the end. By clicking the gate I can exit despite the fact, that I entered the wrong code.

I hope to see more from you, I would love to see progress in your next game. Cheers.

TheCGMaster responds:

Well, if you go to my channel i do code for real and i have many tutorials teaching people how to code c# , i have been coding for 7 years actually (: and thank you for all of the advice! i did get other people to test it but there is bugs that some times are not found, i will work on all of the graphics for the next prison life and i will add arrows kindof like riddle school. Also the bug at the end will be uploaded and fixed in about 15 min!

The game is quite nice. Gameplay is good, the music is great. I understand, that this is not supposed to be the contra clone, but the thing that was really bugging me was this health system. The contra was so legendary partially because of this one hit you're dead rule. It was just bugging me, it was a change to the model of the game i was familiar with for years.

Also, why doesn't Konami code do anything? >;[

Pipeweed responds:

Haha. :) I had it first as one hit = dead... but got many complaints that it was just too brutally hard. Maybe ill include CONTRA mode.. with one hit deaths :)

I was about to seriously rate this game but I noticed you can't possibly exit the shop if you don't have money. It seems promising, but not interesting enough for me to reload the page.

Mmejiadeveloper responds:

You can exit the store if you just move away from it, remember you still can move if you are in the store. Please if you want, give it another try :).
Thanks you so much for playing anyway!
Greetings

I really like it. Idea is neat, and you could make something out of it. Add challanges, make it harder to beat, perhaps some shooting sequences, or interaction with hostages/bank personel. Unfortunately demos are not place for flash portal. Try Dumping grounds, and asking for opinions on forums.

MarcsUniverse responds:

Awh thanks man! Yes I was going to add all these thing but I really wanted to know what people taught of the idea so that I know if it is any worth going further with it!

From what I noticed, it's based on luck basically. And there's 50% chance, that you will encounter the human. After the bush was used, it can't be used once again, so... I was in luck only to get one bucket, only around 4 bushes were actual berries. You can't make this kind of game entirely based on luck, sorry.

gio-m responds:

Yes the game is all about luck. I agree that this type of format is not the norm for these kind of games. I thought i would try something a little different. :)

@everyone: Feedback is very helpful to me. If there are things you like or don't like please feel free to say so :)

There is a restart button (the R) so if you get to a point that you know you can't win you can reset.

Not good.

This game is not good. The graphics are okay, but the rest doesn't seem to be.

First of all, the sound does appear to be loud. You mentioned that, but that doesn't change that it still is. It's a minor thing, but can be frustrating. Variety of enemies is small, which is a small minus too, but it is. The worst thing in the game are controls. The ship can't go fluidly from going two directions at once, and then switching one direction. It just stops, so player has to let go of all the control keys for a moment to turn here he wants.

Additionaly, the idea is nothing amazing, but the game does not only have flaws. It's playable, has some kind of bosses, power ups, actual background which is cheap, but still is, and some kind of story added to it.

You can't submit score anywhere, and if you die, and wait few minutes, you will have few last bosses in front of you, floating, waiting for you to replay the game and rape you.

For me, the game has more flaws than pros, but it's your first game, so It's not too bad.

Gemeai responds:

about the sound ya it's not loud but it might be loud for some people whose wearing headphones

i will make more enemies, i wont use the space bar again and i will improve the background all in my next game

the bosses can be fixed i will give it a shot

It's a disgrace, not a game.

First of all, "It's a very early test", and as far as I remember Tom has asked to not post unfinished verions of games on the portal. You have dumping grounds for it, and a basic "run movie" option in flash, and I guess you could just do with that, since I see no any connection features in here.

About the "project" itself: It's another unoriginal mario styled game. The level is very short, there is no replay button or anything in case if you lose, or win to restart the "game". Some of the graphics were straight ripped from Mario, some have been changed. To worse I guess. I understand this must be some kind of refference to Blowers Brothers which I haven't even heard of, but don't worry. I do not follow any news these days.
In addition I must mark that jumping in this game is very bongish, and you can't even harm goombas.

I'd give it like 2 or 3 stars for music, but this is not a game yet.

Monkeytroll responds:

To harm goombas you must pick up the microphone and shout sweets at them using the space bar, this kills them.
But thank you for the review, I'll take what you've said into account.

I don't think so.

The game didn't entertain me at all. First of all, the idea of a space ship vertical shooter is very unoriginal. You did nothing to make it at least a little more original, like actual companions, some kinds of quick time events, or an actual space to explore. It's just a plain overused vertical shace shooter idea with some "hardcore" music to help to get in the "killing mood" i guess.

Unfortunately, even the music didn't convince me. I can't go up and down which suggests the corder's experience border in there. That's funny, because you're called coder games.

Also, I have feeling it's just a client posted, connected to some other page. Or it's all it, 95 kb, and the second loading screen is just an opportunity to earn more from the advertisements. I don't know, but the idea is overused, and so is the gameplay.

codergames responds:

Your ideas of space exploration, quick time events, etc. are not original either. I explained everything in the description :) ... this is the game for skilled fans of classic shmups.

EDIT: .. just to let you know I added up / down movement and changed the fire key to CTRL, since most of the keyboards don't like the combination of cursor keys and SPACE key.

Quite Good

The game is playable. Graphics aren't marvelous, but still, they are in some way made and they show what they have to show. The music looping can annoy some people. It didn't really bother me, but yes, it can be a problem on long lasting levels that are in this game.

Maybe if there was an axis showing how many distance there is to go, then it wouldn't get little boring while playing.

The game contains power ups, quite smart combo system, and an actual story, which is bareable. It was quite fun playing it, but that's all.

glitchs2d responds:

Thanks I was thinking about puting in a meter that said how much more you had to go but I just dont know what to judge it by if you know what I mean. But yea I know im not much of an artist and I had complaints with my previous music from a few others I think this one is a little less grating on the ears.

Quick and small.

It's good that it doesn't take much time, but I am affraid that it's too short. Just 12 pictures, just one set, easy to remember.

Also, a lot of serial killers heppened to be geniouses too, so I'm not sure if IQ has anything to do with your attitude in certain aspects.

Besides that there's nothing bad i can say about it, perhaps there is nothing more to judge except the music which was okay.

poxpower responds:

Well the idea was to distinguish between genius and stupid but it turns out no one who scores low on IQ tests puts their face online next to their result.

So I just happened to find a list of serial killers with their IQs. Maybe they have that information because they can't execute the mentally retarded so they have to make sure. Who knows.
